When asked if she’s “ever had a wild night on vacation,” the country music star decided to share something that she had kept a secret from her parents and children since 2006. Schlapman revealed that she had eloped with her husband, Stephen Schlapman, in Las Vegas six months prior to their formal wedding ceremony, and almost nobody knew about it, including their kids. She explained that the decision to elope was not spontaneous and had been planned in advance, leading to a prolonged period of secrecy which she was relieved to finally disclose on national television. “When we talked about this earlier, I started shaking, I got really nervous,” Schlapman admitted. But after disclosing her long held secret, the singer said it was “nice to be free of that.” (People)
