George Birge just scored his very first No. 1 single on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart with his current hit, “Cowboy Songs.” The catchy tune jumped up two spots this week, vaulting from No. 3 to the top of the charts. “Cowboy Songs” is the title track from Birge’s full-length album eleased back in April. He co-wrote the track with Lalo Guzman, Matt McGinn, and Michael Tyler, with Guzman and McGinn producing the song as well. The tune is about a special someone who “only dances to cowboy songs.” with Birge revealing “That steel guitar’ll steal her heart” in the lyrics. “Having the No. 1 song on the Billboard Country Airplay chart is an absolute dream come true,” Birge says. “It’s wild to think that the song I wrote about chasing my wife across dusty dive bars in Austin, Texas, is now sitting at the top. I couldn’t think of a better way to end the year.” (Billboard)
