On Tuesday (January 28), Dolly Parton announced that the Nashville premiere of Dolly: An Original Musical will take place at Belmont University’s Fisher Center For the Performing Arts. The musical will run for a four-week limited engagement this summer, from July 18 to August 17, before heading to Broadway in 2026. “It seemed natural and right for me to premiere the story of my life in Tennessee, because I’m Tennessee born and Tennessee raised,” Parton said during a press conference. The musical features Parton’s beloved hits as well as new music composed specifically for the project by the country legend. Dolly will be directed by Tony Award winner Bartlett Sher, with the book written by Parton and Maria S. Schlatter. Parton also introduced the “Dolly U” program, an educational partnership offering Belmont students opportunities to participate in the musical’s production and take new project-based courses. Tickets are available for purchase at dollymusical.com and at Belmont’s Fisher Center Box Office. (Billboard)
