Runaway June, Lindsay Ell and Lindi Ortega Make One Hell of a Backup Band For Carrie Underwood

There was a plethora of collaborations during the 50th annual CMA Awards last night (Nov. 2), but none more energizing than Carrie Underwood’s performance of her current single, “Dirty Laundry,” backed up by some of country’s hottest female newcomers.

If you weren’t paying attention, you may not have noticed Carrie’s awesome backup band. But if you were paying attention, you took note of a couple of things. First, Carrie was backed up by an all-female band—score one for the ladies. Second, that all-female band was filled with some of country’s most badass ladies.

Singing backup for Carrie was country’s hot new female trio Runaway June—Hannah Mulholland, Naomi Cooke and Jennifer Wayne. Rocking out on guitar were “By the Way” singer Lindsay Ell and singer/songwriter Lindi Ortega. And, of course, what band would be complete without the musical stylings of Aussie singer/songwriter and guitar virtuoso Orianthi, who has played for the likes of Michael Jackson and Alice Cooper.

Wow, just wow! The ladies definitely made their mark on the 2016 CMA Awards stage.  Check out Carrie’s performance and keep your eyes on the ladies that are making beautiful music. This one’s for the girls!
