It was announced that the 2025 CMT Awards have been canceled. Officially the show is on a “pause” . . . Because parent company, Paramount Global, has agreed to a merger with Skydance Media and the deal won’t close for another couple months. But the CMT Awards show wasn’t the only one to get the ax this year . . . The MTV Europe Music Awards, and the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards Mexico have also been canceled. The company said they’re trying to reimagine what these award shows might look like in the future, and quote, “optimize its tentpole strategy. The 2024 CMT Awards featured Jelly Roll and Lainey Wilson winning the major prizes. Jelly won Video of the Year for “Need a Favor” . . . and Lainey won Female Video of the Year for “Watermelon Moonshine”. Kelsea Ballerini also announced during the 2024 CMT Awards that it was her last year hosting. Maybe she knew something we didn’t.
When is the next COUNTRY Super Bowl halftime show? Country singers get asked to do the anthem a lot. Like Chris Stapleton . . . The Chicks . . . Faith Hill . . . Garth Brooks . . . and Charley Pride in Super Bowl Eight. But there’s only been ONE fully country halftime show in history: Super Bowl 28 in 1994. It featured Clint Black . . . Tanya Tucker . . . Travis Tritt . . . and The Judds. That was 31 years ago. Don’t you think it’s time for another one? Who do think it should be? Morgan Wallen . . . Luke Combs . . . Jelly Roll . . . Colby Acuff, has had a few run-ins with moose in his home-state of Idaho. So much so, that he regularly asks folks he meets how many people they think it would take to defeat a moose in hand-to-hand combat. Real talk: no weapons allowed, how many people would it take? One of the interviewers then said, “I’m envisioning that they would be similar to be taking down an AT-AT from ‘Star Wars’ . . . you’d have to work together to take down the legs. But I don’t think one person per leg would be enough.” That’s when Colby shares his own answer, “I always say 30 . . . Because when it starts it’s going to be heinous.” This bewilders the other interviewer who says, “I guess I don’t understand how large a moose is, then.” Colby goes on to say he’s had a few close calls over the years and that moose are scary. And according to him, they have the strength of THIRTY men?
