Jason Momoa gets a little nostalgic and kid-like when he thinks about the holidays. Jason, “My mom used to play me Barbra’s (Streisand’s) Christmas album, and so I put that on repeat . . . Every year, Christmas doesn’t start until Barbra sings it.” And — SNOWBALLS.
“Billboard” put out a list of the Top 100 Country Singers of All Time. Dolly Parton is #1, followed by Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Loretta Lynn, and Hank Williams, Sr. It’s specifically the artist who placed #41 on the all-time list that is angering a lot of folks. Her name is Taylor Swift who beat out Brooks & Dunn. . . Tim McGraw. . . Luke Combs. . . Hank Williams Jr.. . . and Toby Keith. Also, Jason Aldean didn’t even make it into the Top 100.
Jelly Roll has two new songs – although both are not really country songs. The first is called, “Run It”, and it’s featured on the “Sonic 3” soundtrack. The second song was put out by One Republic and it’s featuring Jelly. It’s called, “Hurt”. It’s a pop song, but Jelly does have some pretty impressive vocals on the track.
Blake Shelton’s new single “Texas” came out this month, and his new Friends & Heroes Tour kicks off in February. He posted a video where he jokes that the merch he’s been offering is “embarrassing” and overproduced. So he decided to keep things simple and design some stuff himself. For $15, you can get a set of four red cups that say, “I Drink, Get Over It.” It’s a reference to a cup he had on stage with him at a show in Florida in 2016, back when rumors were swirling he was in rehab. But the truly dumb product he’s selling is a black t-shirt with a photo he claims he snagged off his own phone. It’s a shot of him looking not-very-sober. And all it says is, “I Bought This Shirt from Blake Shelton.”
Before the CMAs on Wednesday night, Vince Gill and Brooks & Dunn were tied for the most CMA Awards wins ever, with 18. But now after the big night, Vince Gill has been booted from the top spot. When Brooks & Dunn won Best Vocal Duo, it put them in first all alone with 19 award wins. But that only lasted a few minutes . . . Because then Chris Stapleton went on to win THREE that same night, and jumped into a tie for first place. So now Chris and Brooks & Dunn have the most CMA Award wins in history, with 19 each. That’s incredible for Brooks & Dunn, who have proven their staying power. And amazing for Chris, whose first CMA win was only in 2015.
