A lot of fans were upset when they found out that they wouldn’t be able to livestream Morgan Wallen’s set at Stagecoach this past weekend. Fans flooded comment sections blaming Amazon for this huge oversight. But it turns out, it was Morgan Wallen’s camp who decided not to let anyone watch his performance. A rep for Morgan said, “Morgan Wallen has a special project in the works for his fans that precludes him from participating in livestreams at this time.” Well, it sounds like at some point we will get to watch an awesome behind-the-scenes video of Morgan at some of his shows. And hopefully it includes his Stagecoach set too. He and Posty finally debuted their new song “I Had Some Help”. Plus, he brought out Eric Church to sing “Man Made a Bar”. And Hardy, Ernest, and Bailey Zimmerman all joined him on stage too. Seems like an AMAZING show to watch . . . too bad only the ones in attendance could see it. Hopefully Morgan and his team have something special cooking.
Sara Evans recently brought Martina McBride on her podcast “Diving in Deep with Sara Evans” to talk about the many struggles new musicians face today. Sara said, “These days, I feel really bad for singers and musicians who are coming to town and trying to get a deal, because they’re meant to have a million followers on TikTok and Instagram before a label will even look at them.” Sara’s debut album was in 1997 and she has kids now that are interested in music as a career and she said, “Honestly, I don’t even know what to tell them. I have no idea.” Martina said, “I don’t even know how labels work anymore. It’s like a whole different world. We were so lucky that we had a label that had experienced executives [that] could sort of shepherd you. We were always in control of making the music, and then they helped us get the music out there.” Sara went on to complain about how streaming has messed everything up, too. “These days our music is basically given away for free . . . Now we have really nothing to sell, except ourselves on the road.”
If you’re seeing Bailey Zimmerman this summer, maybe bring some singles. If you haven’t seen the video, he ended a show in Texas last Friday by stripping down to his underwear and tossed his clothes and shoes into the crowd. It was just a one-off after the show ended early due to weather. But then he did it AGAIN at the end of his Stagecoach set on Sunday night. He posted a bunch of photos on Instagram and said, “Swipe to see what underwear I wore [at Stagecoach].” For the record, they were orange boxer briefs made by American Eagle. He also posted a TikTok that said, “If you seen me take my clothes off at Stagecoach, no you didn’t” . . . followed by, “What happens [at Stagecoach] stays at Stagecoach.” So, is this gonna be a regular thing for him now? He’s opening for Morgan Wallen in Nashville tomorrow night, so stay tuned.
Jelly Roll and Bunnie Xo don’t really have “hall passes” . . . but a joke about them got Bunnie in trouble with Jelly’s fans. She posted a TikTok Sunday where she met Chris Cerulli, the lead singer of the band Motionless in White. She called him her hall pass and said, “You could say we’re in love now.” And even though Jelly wrote “Bout time” in the comments, his fans were offended on his behalf. Also, he’s the one who set up the meeting. Bunnie said it was a joke, but she also noted that when pictures were posted of Jelly with HIS “crush,” Taylor Swift, everyone “swooned.” But when she posted her video with Cerulli, they called her a WHORE.
Ashley McBryde and her band added a country spin to a few Disney songs while in Orlando last month. Her bandmate Chris Harris performed “Beauty and the Beast” and she did “Part of Your World” from “The Little Mermaid”. Ashley says, “When in Orlando, you MUST sing a Disney song.”
