Jimmy Kimmel will announce “People” magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive for 2023 on his show tonight. Until then, here are some Sexiest Man Alive fun facts:
1. Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Johnny Depp, and Richard Gere are all TWO-TIME winners.
2. “People” didn’t give out the award in 1994 . . . so in 2015, it was retroactively given to Keanu Reeves.
3. So far, Sean Connery is the oldest recipient. He was 59 when he won it in 1989.
4. Tom Cruise is the youngest. He was 27 when he was awarded in 1990.
5. 1988 honoree John F. Kennedy Jr. is one of only two non-entertainers to win Sexiest Man Alive. The other is David Beckham, in 2015.
6. In 1993, Cindy Crawford and Richard Gere were named Sexiest COUPLE of the Year. It’s the only time that ever happened.
7. In 2014, Kate Upton became “People’s” only Sexiest Woman Alive. That year’s Sexiest Man was Chris Hemsworth.
Friendships and romantic relationships blow up all the time. And now, thanks to social media, there’s a new way to track those breakups in real time. Here are some of the biggest unfollows of 2023:
Kelsea Ballerini unfollowed her ex-husband Morgan Evans
Joe Alwyn lost a bunch of celebrity followers after he and Taylor Swift broke up.
After breaking up with Joe Jonas, Sophie Turner unfollowed Nick Jonas’s wife Priyanka Chopra. She unfollowed Sophie right back.
Travis Kelce’s ex-girlfriend Kayla Nicole unfollowed Brittany and Patrick Mahomes. It’s crazy because they used to be TIGHT. Kayla was even one of Brittany’s bridesmaids. But obviously, Brittany is now part of Taylor Swift’s squad, so there’s that.
On FRIENDS – An actress named Lisa Cash was hired to play the woman Chandler cheats with after having a fight with Monica. They rehearsed the scene and everything. But Matthew Perry wasn’t feeling it. Lisa says, “I was told that he went to the writers and said the audience will never forgive him for cheating on Monica, which, he was probably right. That would have changed possibly the course of the show, and of his character.”
People were grieving last summer when Morgan Wallen shaved his head. He and his mullet seemed like the perfect couple . . . except they weren’t. They had been growing apart for a long time. It came up in a recent interview. Quote, “Honestly, I just been talking about it for a couple years. I had a shaved head for a long time in high school and maybe I just thought I would never go back to that. “But I just kind of got tired of my hair and for a couple years [and] I’ve been telling a lot of people around me that I’m going to shave it. One night I was by myself and shaved it off and that was it.”
Dolly Parton’s got about a week left to push her new album ROCKSTAR. “Consequence of Sound” got Hayley Williams from the band Paramore to sit down for a one-on-one interview with Dolly. And one part that stood out was a comment about who inspired the title song . . . none other than Joan Jett. Dolly said she was imagining Joan “as a little girl wanting to be a rockstar.” Quote, “I was picturing her the whole time I was writing that song, [. . .] trying to be a rockstar as a girl at that time.” Dolly ended up asking Joan to sing on the album with her, but not on that song. And they didn’t end up doing the first one Dolly suggested either. She initially wanted to do Joan’s song, “I Love Rock & Roll”. But Joan shot her down, because “EVERYONE can do that song.” In other words, too easy. Instead, she wanted to do her song, “I Hate Myself for Loving You”, because it’s “got some meat to it.” She told Dolly “that one’s more you.” The album comes out next Friday. It’s track #12.
We’re going to be seeing a lot of Lainey Wilson on tomorrow’s CMAs. She’s up for nine awards, so the camera will be on her a lot. Especially if she brings her boyfriend, former NFL player Devlin “Duck” Hodges. But her biggest moment may be when she performs “Wildflowers and Wild Horses”. Quote, “It’s gonna be fiery, it’s gonna be fun, [there’s] gonna be some magic in it and I’m excited for y’all to see it with your own eyes.”
Heading into the holidays, a lot of country fans are planning on serving GRAVY. But Yung Gravy is planning on serving COUNTRY. He’s teasing a collaboration with Shania Twain titled “Serving Country”. They posted footage from a rehearsal, and say it’ll be served “soon.” This collaboration has been simmering for a while. Gravy talked about working with Shania in an interview with “Entertainment Tonight” back in February.
Megan Moroney walked the CMA Awards red carpet alone last year. That will change in 2023. Don’t expect her to introduce a boyfriend for the first time, however. Her escort is much more important than any boyfriend could be. “My dad is coming with me as my date,” Moroney says, “Just thinking about how he taught me how to play guitar and got me into music … The fact that he gets to be my date, it’s just crazy.”
Miranda Lambert and Jon Randall are getting into the business end of music. They’ve launched their own imprint called Big Loud Texas, and they’ll be directly involved in signing and developing artists.
