Jamie Foxx posted an Instagram video on Friday . . . his first public statement since his health emergency back in April. He STILL hasn’t revealed what happened to him, but he did say he went to “hell and back.” Luckily though, he’s on the mend. He said, quote, “I’m coming back and I’m able to work . . . I was sick, man. But now I got my legs under me, so you’re gonna see me out.” He also explained why he and his camp were so silent throughout this whole thing. Quote, “I just didn’t want you to see me like that man. I want you to see me laughing, having a good time partying, cracking a joke, doing a movie, television show. “I didn’t want you to see me with tubes running out of me and trying to figure out if I was gonna make it through.”
“Oppenheimer” didn’t beat “Barbie” at the box office this weekend, but it was a pretty big hit . . . with a three-day take of $80.5 million. And that’s despite a GLARING historical inaccuracy. There’s a scene in the movie where several people in a crowd are waving American flags. It takes place in 1945, and the flags have 50 stars on them. If you know your history and/or civics, then you know that the American flag didn’t have 50 stars until 1960, after Alaska and Hawaii became states. In 1945, it only had 48 stars.
Matt Damon could have done “Avatar”. James Cameron offered it to him back in 2009, but he was doing the “Bourne” movies during that time, and he didn’t want to, quote, “leave them in the lurch.” So he turned it down. But here’s the thing: In addition to a salary, Matt was offered a percentage of the earnings. Ultimately, he would have made $250 million if he’d said yes. He thinks it’s, quote, “the most money an actor ever turned down.” That might not be true, though. CNN points out that Sean Connery turned down the role of Gandalf in the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy. He was offered $30 million per film, plus a percentage . . . which would have put something like $450 million in his pocket.
Luke Combs brought a young cancer survivor named Cooper up to the stage at his show in Foxborough, Massachusetts on Saturday. He told the crowd Cooper came all the way to sing his favorite song. And then Luke got down on one knee and helped him sing the chorus of “Fast Car”. The crowd even started chanting Cooper’s name.
