Because she did it first. “One of the funniest stories she tells is about entering and LOSING a Dolly Drag Queen contest.” Dolly talked about it in a 2012 interview with “Nightline”. She secretly entered a drag show once, and exaggerated her make-up so no one knew. But of all the Dollys on stage, she got the least amount of applause.
Ashley McBryde promised to get a Grammy tattoo earlier this year after she and Carly Pearce won Best Country Duo/Group Performance for “Never Wanted to Be That Girl”. Promise kept. This is just a guess, but I think I cracked the code of how interviewers convince stars to stop and talk to them when they’re walking the red carpet at award shows. They bribe them with booze. Somebody on the red carpet asked Lainey Wilson if she was nervous about the show. She said, quote, “A few cameras down, they gave me a tequila shot and that kind of helped. That’ll help. A prayer and a tequila shot.”
