A little bit of country music history happened 8 years ago today…Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney met for the first time at a party in Nashville, Tennessee. The guys were reminded of their meeting in 2012 when they went to share a post on their social media today.
A selfie of the two from Rockefeller Center included the caption…
“Well, the original intention of this selfie was to let y’all know that we’ll be performing a few songs on the Today Show tomorrow morning (SURPRISE, we are) but when I opened my phone to take the photo, I realized the date is 12/7, which means it has been exactly 8 years since we met 
just wanna say thanks for everything y’all have done for us, it truly means the world. we’ve been able to accomplish some really cool things since we started this band, and it’s all because of you believing in the music. Kinda all up in our emotions”
Their 8th year together was one for the ages, and going into 2021, year 9 of their partnership, it looks to be Dan + Shay’s best one yet.
