Chris Young’s song, “Young Love & Saturday Nights” just got to #1 on the Country Airplay chart . . . And you might recognize it, because it uses a David Bowie guitar riff from the song “Rebel Rebel”. This means that David Bowie now has a #1 song on the Country charts as well, and he achieved it 8 years after his passing. This was made possible when Warner Chappell Music purchased Bowie’s catalog in 2022. They are now legally allowed to use Bowie’s songs in a wide variety of different ways. Chris said, “There are a lot of songs where people use something as a sample or have exactly the same melody. This is different. This is creating something new, with a nod to something that pre-existed . . . Just to have a song that has David Bowie listed as a songwriter is amazing.”
Megan Moroney just announced a batch of tour dates for next year. It’s called the Am I Okay? Tour . . . and the dates stretch from March to August. For now, she’s only hitting up the eastern half of the U.S. The pre-sale is tomorrow . . . the public sale opens on Friday . . . and “VIP experience” upgrades will be made available next week.
