Taylor Swift leads the nominees for the 2024 “MTV Video Music Awards” with 10. She’s followed by Post Malone with nine. Ariana Grande, Eminem, and Sabrina Carpenter follow with six each . . . and Megan Thee Stallion with five. The show airs live on September 10th.
Since Morgan Wallen rarely posts on social media, fans were really happy when he posted a highlight reel of his past few shows . . . while also teasing new music. In the voiceover you can hear him say, “I’ve been in the studio for the past couple days. I was just thinking I haven’t been on here to give y’all an update in a long time. [I was] mostly just laying low and staying out of trouble.” And then he said, “I’m really excited for y’all to hear the new music. It sounds awesome.” Does this mean a new album is coming? We know Post Malone’s new album will be out August 16th, so it’s doubtful Morgan will be dropping new music anywhere around then. Maybe September?
An old interview just resurfaced featuring Julia Roberts talking about what it was like working with Dolly Parton on the set of 1989’s “Steel Magnolias”. They shot the film in Louisiana during the middle of the summer, so it was terribly hot. Julia was amazed that Dolly wasn’t complaining, because everyone else on set was. Julia said, “Everybody had ice on their wrists, doing the whole thing. And Dolly never said anything. And finally, I just had to say, ‘Dolly you’ve got a wig, and the wool . . . It’s hot, just say it’s hot, you know. This is a drag.'” To which Dolly calmly replied, “When I was a little girl, I wanted to be famous and I wanted to be rich, and now I’m both of these things. I’m not going to complain about it.” Then Julia said, “[Now] every time I go to complain, or just kind of moan, I always hear Dolly sitting on the porch saying that, and it kinda keeps you quiet.”
Next Friday we will get to hear the album that everyone’s been talking about all summer. Post Malone’s album! On his Instagram yesterday, he let us all hear a sneak peek of the first song off of “F-1 Trillion” . . . The song is called “Wrong Ones” and it features Tim McGraw. And the buzz is this might be the best one yet.
The Billy Ray Cyrus / Firerose relationship seemed a little strange to many people from the start . . . but it took Billy Ray seven months of marriage to realize things weren’t right, and he needed to BOOK IT. Hopefully this ends it for good. Billy Ray has finalized the divorce. Firerose will not receive any alimony or spousal support in the divorce settlement. However, she will receive all rights, credits, and royalties for the 17 songs they wrote and published together. Billy Ray said, “This has been absolutely the most crazy insane scam I have ever heard of . . . not only was it a web of lies that put me in physical danger, it was a matter of the heart. Love is blind, that’s for sure.” Firerose hasn’t commented, but a “source” close to her says she wants the “continuous smear campaign [to] end.”
Zach Bryan had some angry words for whoever on the Internet talked smack about his parents. And then he promptly deactivated his Instagram account right after. Here’s the backstory: There’s an Instagram account called Prime Time Country Music and every week they ask their followers to participate in a “Shots Fired” segment where they get to post anonymously and give their Country music hot take. They do have rules like no swearing or making racist comments, but after that it’s a free-for-all. Well, it seems like one of their users took it too far. The picture is of Zach standing near a police officer, and it says, “Zach Bryan is what happens when you don’t discipline your kids.” Zach reposted it on his Instagram stories and said, “I pray you pieces of trash that don’t even have your name attached to these accounts know how much worse the world is with you in them. Don’t ever insult my parents, don’t ever insult anyone’s parents.” And then Zach closed it off with, “If anyone knows who runs this account, please tell me. I’m so tired of this [crap].”
