The first round of voting for the 2024 CMT Music Awards closed yesterday.  The original list of 16 nominees for Video of the Year is now down to the top six.  They are:

1.  “Light On in the Kitchen” . . . Ashley McBryde

2.  “The Painter” . . . Cody Johnson

3.  “Truck Bed” . . . Hardy

4.  “Need a Favor” . . . Jelly Roll

5.  “If You Go Down (I’m Goin’ Down Too)” . . . Kelsea Ballerini

6.  “Watermelon Moonshine” . . . Lainey Wilson

The top three nominees will be announced the morning of the show.  You can still vote for this category until showtime.  It airs this Sunday at 8:00 P.M. Eastern on CBS and Paramount+

The rock band NEEDTOBREATHE and Jordan Davis are joining forces to create musical memories Sunday for the CMT Music Awards in Austin, Texas. Kelsea Ballerini will host. Other performers include Ballerini, Bailey Zimmerman, Jelly Roll, Keith Urban, Lainey Wilson and Sam Hunt. Ballerini, Wilson and Jelly Roll are part of a five-way tie for leading nominee at the fan-voted awards show alongside Cody Johnson and Megan Moroney. Each artist is up for three awards. There are 14 first-time nominees from a variety of genres, including Ashley Cooke, Bret Michaels, Chayce Beckham, Koe Wetzel, Tyler Childers, Warren Zeiders, Zach Bryan, The nominees for the night’s top honor—Video of the Year include Ballerini, Kacey Musgraves and Brandy Clark featuring Brandi Carlile, in addition to Darius Rucker, Childers and Bryan. Sugarland and Little Big Town will reteam for another history-making performance on the CMT Music Awards, set for April 7 in Austin, Texas at 8 pm. In “Freaky Friday 2”, Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis won’t switch bodies with each other . . . they’ll switch with two teenage girls.  One of them will be Lindsay’s daughter.

Jared Leto briefly hosted last night’s “Wheel of Fortune” as an April Fool’s Day prank.  He disappeared after introducing the first puzzle, then Pat Sajak was back as host.

Billy Dean is 62.  Country singer and “Star Search” winner.

Christopher Meloni is 63.  Detective Stabler on “Law & Order:  SVU” and its spin-off “Law & Order: Organized Crime”. 

Emmylou Harris is 77.  Country legend.

Linda Hunt is 79.  Hetty, the tiny boss on “NCIS: Los Angeles”.
