In case you somehow missed it, Dolly Parton gave a memorable performance during halftime of the Cowboys – Commanders game on Thanksgiving. (Which the Cowboys won, 45 to 10.) Let’s start with her outfit. She wore a version of the classic Dallas Cowboys cheerleader uniform . . . including white shorts with tights, a white vest with blue stars, and a blue crop top. Not many humans look that good at 77. Her performance included “Jolene” and “9 to 5” . . . and then the Queen classic “We Are the Champions / We Will Rock You”. Her appearance was part of the Salvation Army’s annual holiday drive. She said, “When you drop a dollar in that red kettle, you can make a difference for the families who are struggling to put food on the table and for the single parent who can’t make rent.”
Tracy Lawrence’s 18th Annual Turkey Fry and Benefit Concert went down last week. Tracy and his volunteers fried over 1,200 turkeys that helped provide over 10,000 meals to those in need. The concert featured Lee Brice, Priscilla Block, and Halfway to Hazard, and it raised $250,000 for the Nashville Rescue Mission, which aids the hungry and homeless.
Carrie Underwood usually “busts out” her Christmas decorations over the Thanksgiving weekend. But this year she had to get it done earlier so she could scoot to Vegas for her Reflection residency at Resorts World. And there are ALREADY gifts wrapped and waiting. She says there’s “nothing sadder” than a Christmas tree that’s up and decorated with NO presents underneath it.

Double-amputee Olympic runner Oscar Pistorius was granted parole on Friday, more than a decade after shooting his girlfriend through a toilet door at his home in South Africa in a killing that jolted the world. He will be released from prison on Jan. 5, but will be constantly monitored by parole officials for five years until his sentence expires, the Department of Corrections said. Pistorius won’t be allowed to leave the area of Pretoria where he is set to live without permission from authorities. He will also attend a program to deal with anger issues and another program on violence against women. He will have to perform community service.
The 97th annual “Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade” had its largest TV audience ever with 28.5 million viewers.
Marty Krofft, the savvy businessman who partnered with his older brother Sid to amass an entertainment empire fueled by such mind-blowing kids TV shows as The Banana Splits Adventure Hour, H.R. Pufnstuf and Land of the Lost, died Saturday. He was 86. Eight years younger than Sid, Marty Krofft died Saturday in Los Angeles of kidney failure. The pair already were well-known theatrical puppeteers when they were recruited in 1968 to design the costumes for the live-action portion of NBC’s The Banana Splits Adventure Hour.
