Now that four women have accused Russell Brand of sexual assault, people are combing through his past for evidence of his supposed toxicity. Here’s one of the most interesting things they found: Russell was married to Katy Perry from 2010 to 2012 . . . and in a 2013 interview, she had this to say: “I felt a lot of responsibility for [the relationship] ending, but then I found out the real truth, which I can’t necessarily disclose because I keep it locked in my safe for a rainy day. I let go and I was like, ‘This isn’t because of me; this is beyond me.’ So I have moved on from that.” Then there’s Kristen Bell, who worked with Russell on “Forgetting Sarah Marshall”. She revealed back in 2010 that before they even started filming, she warned him not to try anything. In 2006, Dannii Minogue called Brand, quote, “a bit of a vile predator.” A model named Jordan Martin dated Brand for six months, and she said in a 2014 book that he sexually assaulted her. And a British comedian named London Hughes says that she signed with the same talent agent as Brand early in his career, and they told her right upfront not to sleep with him, “under any circumstances.” In response to all the chaos, Brand has canceled his remaining standup dates and his publisher has also paused the publication of his work.
The paparazzi happened to catch Jennifer Garner in her car at Santa Monica beach, leaning out of the window and handing a bag of essentials to a homeless man in a wheelchair. Then she got out of the car, put socks on his feet, and tried to GIVE HIM HER SHOES. But hers didn’t fit . . . so she asked the guy who was recording her if she could buy HIS shoes for the guy. He ended up forking over his shoes, plus a blanket, a shirt, and pants.
Kane Brown was on NBC’s “Sunday Sitdown with Willie Geist” . . . and he got some business out of the way by announcing that his “In the Air” tour will begin in 2024, with tickets going on sale this Friday. During the interview Willie asked what it feels like to be a worldwide star, and Kane said it “makes absolutely no sense” to him. In fact, he’s dealt with “imposter syndrome”, which is when you don’t believe you deserve your success. “When I started playing bigger places, I got imposter syndrome. It moved too fast. I wasn’t the greatest onstage. I wondered what everybody thought about me.” Ironically, he overcame that by performing at . . . a big place. “But when I did Fenway [Park], I knew that I was supposed to be there. It was very iconic to me, and when I got out there, you know, there was no nerves. There was no ‘Oh my God.’ It was like, ‘It’s showtime, and I’m gonna put on a show and let these people know that I’m so glad they’re here, and I’m so glad to be here.'” By the way, Kane’s new single, “I Can Feel It”, is out Thursday.
