What’s your favorite country song that’s got a sense of humor to it?

1.  “Did I Shave My Legs for This?” by Deana Carter.  (1995)  About a wife getting dolled up, but her husband’s too busy with TV and beer.

2.  “You’re the Reason Our Kids Are Ugly” by Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty.  (1978)  A couple who playfully blame each other for everything.

3.  “I’m Gonna Miss Her” by Brad Paisley.  (2001)  About a guy who has to choose between his wife and going fishing . . . and chooses fishing.

4.  “Shut Up and Fish” by Maddie & Tae.  (2015)  About taking a city boy fishing.  But instead of trying to hook a fish, he’s trying to hook up.

5.  “Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off” by Joe Nichols.  (2005)  They don’t really fall off in an R-rated way . . . she just tends to lose stuff when she drinks.

6.  “Some Beach” by Blake Shelton.  (2004)  There’s an obvious play on words in that one.

7.  “When It Rains It Pours” by Luke Combs.  (2017)  A guy’s woman leaves him . . . and then everything else in his life ALSO starts going right.

8.  “Goodbye Earl” by The Chicks.  (1999)  About MURDERING an abusive husband.  But the whole song is done in a comically upbeat way.  Dennis Franz from “NYPD Blue” played him in the music video.

9.  “Bubba Shot the Jukebox” by Mark Chesnutt.  (1992)  About a tough guy who puts a bullet in a jukebox for playing a sad song that makes him cry.

10.  “Boy Named Sue” by Johnny Cash.  (1969)  About naming your kid Sue to toughen him up.  A lot of people don’t know Johnny didn’t actually write it.  It’s by children’s author Shel Silverstein, who did “Where the Sidewalk Ends”.

Luke Bryan is such a huge star I think we sometimes forget how he got there.  He did it by being a hit machine.  There was a party the other day in Nashville honoring him for having 30 Number One singles on country radio. Before the festivities began he was asked what it feels like to have that kind of success.  He said quote, “When you’re so focused in the trenches of all this, it’s days like this where your career flashes in front of your eyes.” Here are some numbers:  Luke’s first-ever #1 on country radio was “Do I” back in 2009, and his most recent was last year’s, “Country On”.  In all, he’s spent 56 weeks at Number One.  Luke’s only 47, so he might even double that total.

Oliver Anthony announced a new show at a new venue in Knoxville . . . after he canceled the initial one when he found out that tickets were priced at $100.  Oliver ranted about how fans should NEVER pay that much. He’s now performing on Friday, September 29th at the Knoxville Convention Center. He set the ticket prices at $25 . . . but, and you know where this is headed . . . they immediately sold out, and now the people who scooped up those tickets are selling them on the secondary sites for . . . over $100.

Oliver is new to the scene . . . so we’ll excuse his naivety . . . but THIS is EXACTLY why the ticket-price problem is so complicated to fix.  It’s supply and demand.  Tickets will ALWAYS end up going for the highest price that someone is willing to pay for them. It sucks, but it isn’t JUST scalpers.  If a fan buys a ticket for $25 . . . and another fan is willing to pay them $200 for it . . . it’s hard to argue that they shouldn’t sell it.  That’s capitalism.

Maren Morris and Hozier are teaming up for an episode of “CMT Crossroads”.  It premieres Friday, September 22nd.  The pair might sound a bit random, but if you remember, they did a song together in 2019 called “The Bones”. Their episode will include a performance of that song, plus Maren will do “My Church”, “Girl”, and “The Tree”.  She’ll also join Hozier on his songs “Take Me to Church”, “Work Song”, and two others from his latest album.

Carrie Underwood has extended her Vegas residency into next year.  She added 18 shows, and they’re spread out through the months of March, May, June, and August.  Hit up CarrieUnderwoodOfficial.com for details.

Miranda Lambert wants you to see Switzerland . . . from her vantage point.  She shared a video of herself and husband Brendan McLoughlin enjoying a boat ride on Lake Lucerne.  She was there performing at a festival.

Alex Trebek spent a lot of time and money renovating his home.  But after he died his wife sold it, and now it’s being demolished.
