The nominations for the “57th Annual CMA Awards” were announced yesterday, with Lainey Wilson leading with nine.  Jelly Roll follows with five, and Luke Combs with four. Lainey is nominated for Entertainer of the Year, only one year after winning New Artist of the Year.  The other nominees in the category are Luke Combs, Chris Stapleton, Carrie Underwood, and Morgan Wallen. Jelly Roll’s five nominations come as a bit of a surprise, since he’s a FIRST-TIME nominee.  He joins Garth Brooks, Johnny Cash, and Willie Nelson who earned five in their first CMA appearance. He says, quote, “Being nominated is already a win for me . . . This is a win for all the underdogs and forgotten . . .  This is magical and you can bet the farm that my wife and I will show up dressed to impress yet trashy as ever.” Luke Combs’ “Fast Car” is nominated for Song of the Year, giving Tracy Chapman her FIRST nomination, since she’s the songwriter. Billboard put together a list of snubs, like Morgan Wallen’s “Last Night”.  Even though it spent 16 nonconsecutive weeks at #1 on the Hot 100, it didn’t receive a single nomination. Now keep in mind the eligibility period was July 1st, 2022 through June 30th of this year.  So of course Zach Bryan isn’t eligible for his latest hits, but it’s a bit surprising that “Something in the Orange” didn’t make the cut. Jason Aldean’s”Try That in a Small Town” was released in late May, so it could’ve qualified for Song of the Year, but it didn’t gain popularity until mid-July.  It would qualify NEXT year for single of the year and music video of the year. “The 57th Annual CMA Awards”airs live from Nashville on November 8th on ABC.  Luke Bryan and Peyton Manning will return to co-host.

The annual Stagecoach Festival in Indio, California released the 2024 lineup  yesterday.  The headliners are Morgan Wallen, Miranda Lambert, and Eric Church.  Some surprising additions include Post Malone, The Beach Boys, Nickelback, Diplo, and Wiz Khalifa.

Jelly Roll had to pause his show Sunday night to break up a fight in the crowd.  He even threatened to come down and handle things himself.  He said, quote, “I’ll jump off and slap out of one of y’all if y’all disrespect the show like that again.  I don’t know if you know this or not, but this is the closest thing to church [eff]-ups like me will ever have, right here in this building tonight.”  Jelly Roll was then able to resume the show.

Kane Brown shared advice for those playing fantasy football for the first time.  He says, quote, “Definitely look at the projected points because they’re not going to steer you wrong.  And if you’re going to get a star that gets hurt a lot make sure you have their backup.”

Zach Bryan was arrested yesterday in Oklahoma.  He was booked on an “obstruction of investigation” charge, according to online jail records.  There aren’t any specifics on what went down at this point. Zach posted this statement on social media:  “Emotions got the best of me and I was out of line in the things I said.  I support law enforcement as much as anyone can, I was just frustrated in the moment.  It was unlike me, and I apologize.” TMZ has Zach’s mugshot. Earlier in the day, Zach posted a message on social media saying, “On the road again, gonna go see the birds win.”  Some think that’s a reference to the Philadelphia Eagles, since he’s a fan.  They play their opener on Sunday in New England.

Pink is 44.

David Arquette is 52.

Brooke Burke is 52.  Former “Dancing with the Stars” co-host.
