Christine King Farris, the last living sibling of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., has died. Her niece, the Rev. Bernice King, tweeted that her “beloved aunt” died Thursday. She was 95. For decades after her brother’s assassination in 1968, Farris worked along with his widow, Coretta Scott King, to preserve and promote his legacy. But unlike her high-profile sister-in-law, Farris’ activism — and grief — was often behind the scenes.
Someone threw a bracelet that hit Kelsea Ballerini in the EYE while she was performing in Boise, Idaho on Wednesday. A video of it was posted on a Kelsea fan account. She stops immediately, and is clearly shaken up. A band member comes over to look, and then Kelsea decides to leave the stage. Luckily, she was okay, and came back later to address the crowd. The fan account shared that clip too. She stressed that she wants her shows to be a safe place, and fans should let security know if something’s up. She added, “Please don’t throw things.” (Seriously!) Then she started performing again. She addressed it again yesterday on Instagram, writing, “Hi, I’m fine. Someone threw a bracelet, it hit me in the eye, and it scared me more than hurt me. We all have triggers and layers of fears way deeper than what is shown . . .”That’s why I walked offstage to calm down and make sure myself, and everyone else felt safe to continue. I love you and appreciate all of the concern.”
If you think Hailey Whitters and Miranda Lambert look alike, you’re not the first to say it. A writer for “The Boot” asked Hailey if the two have ever met, and she had an epic story about meeting Miranda a decade ago. Before she was famous, Hailey worked at a hair salon in Tennessee. This would have been back in 2012. And she was walking to work one day when a director stopped her on the street and asked if she was free to be in a video the next day. She was supposed to work but said she’d ask her boss for the day off. And when she walked back out of the salon, Miranda was there too. It turned out the director wanted her to be Miranda’s BODY DOUBLE in her music video for the song, “Fastest Girl in Town”. That’s where they use someone else’s body in shots that don’t show your face. Miranda looked at her and said, “Well, if she’s gonna play me, I’m glad she’s CUTE!” So they hired her. If you don’t remember the video, it’s the one where Miranda and Danica Patrick steal a guy’s car.
