Pat Sajak is taking one last spin on “Wheel of Fortune,” – the upcoming season will be his last as host. He tweeted, “Well, the time has come. I’ve decided that our 41st season, which begins in September, will be my last. It’s been a wonderful ride, and I’ll have more to say in the coming months. Many thanks to you all,” —– Sajak, 76, has presided over the game show since 1981. He took over duties from Chuck Woolery, who was the show’s first host when it debuted in 1975. Sajak will continue to serve as a consultant on the show for three years after his retirement as host.
Treat Williams, the star of Everwood and Hair, has died after being involved in a motorcycle accident. He was 71. The Eagle Has Landed was one of his first memorable roles. He starred as George Berger in the film Hair, which was based on the Broadway musical. The role ultimately earned him his first Golden Globe nomination for new star of the year – actor. Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour is pumping big bucks into local economies. By the time it’s done, it’ll generate $4.6 BILLION in tourism-related expenses like hotel accommodations and food.
Last week Garth Brooks made it clear he’ll be serving “every brand of beer” at his Nashville club. Since it was a reference to the John Rich and Travis Tritt boycott, John was asked for his take. Here’s what he said. “Garth has always been the guy saying, ‘everybody come to my show.’ It’s something we love about him. He makes his music for everybody. And that’s what music’s about. You’re making it for everybody. Beer is for everybody, too.” He added that if Garth wants to serve Bud Light in his bar, that’s his business. But . . . his actual business may suffer because of it. “[He] might find out NOT many people are going to order it. You have to put things in your establishment that people are going to purchase if you’re going to run a successful business. So, he might find that out.”
Some people at a Chris Stapleton concert in Massachusetts started fighting, so Chris stopped the show and gave them a stern talking-to. He reminded them that everyone paid good money to have a good time . . . and if they can’t do that too, then they were supposed to get out. Seems they did. There’s also a video of security escorting one, maybe two of them away.
Kane Brown’s wife Katelyn shared video of their three-year-old daughter Kingsley at her first dance recital. It starts with her in the bathroom waiting for mom to do her makeup. When asked what color of lipstick she wants, she says “red”. Then the video cuts to Kingsley on stage at the recital with the other little girls . . . and ends with her holding a lovely bouquet of flowers after the show.
More than 90,000 people attended CMA Fest each day this year, which is a new record. Some 50,000 went to the concerts each night. People came from all 50 states and 51 international countries. You’ll get to see highlights on the “CMA Fest” TV special. It’s hosted by Dierks Bentley, Elle King, and Lainey Wilson . . . and it airs July 19th on ABC.
At CMA Fest. Dierks Bentley presented Alabama with the CMA Pinnacle Award Sunday night. They’re only the fourth artist to receive the honor since its creation in 2005. It recognizes artists that redefine the “pinnacle” of success in country music through achievements like record sales and concert performances.
Morgan Wallen’s “Last Night” achieves a 10th week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart. It becomes the 44th song since the Hot 100 began in August 1958 to reign for 10 or more weeks, out of 1,149 total No. 1s – an achievement that only 4% of all leaders have attained.
There was a rumor that Cody Johnson and Jelly Roll were talking about recording together. Cody was asked about it at CMA Fest and he confirmed it. And he added, “the respect is mutual”.
