Ashley McBryde’s strapless lowcut dress at the Grammys definitely popped a few eyeballs. It was also a very clever way to get people’s attention, so she could tie it into her song, “Brenda, Put Your Bra On”. She put those two ideas together for a T-shirt that says, “Ashley, Put Your Bra On”. And they’re for sale, if you want one. It’s a unisex black 100% cotton tee. She also created a bunch of fake ads for the shirt, and posted them online. They feature her face inserted over some old school bra ads . . . and also over the T-shirt.
TasteOfCountry.com posted a list of 20 controversial country songs some stations refused to play initially.
1. “Smoke a Little Smoke” by Eric Church. It’s about drugs, so a lot of stations wouldn’t play it when it came out in 2009. It was still a Top 20 hit though.
2. “Follow Your Arrow” by Kacey Musgraves. The lines about same-sex make-outs and rolling joints were a little too controversial for some stations when it came out in 2013.
3. “Strawberry Wine” by Deana Carter. It was a #1 hit in 1996, but some stations wouldn’t play it because it references sex at 17.
4. “Before He Cheats” by Carrie Underwood. But it had nothing to do with the song itself. Stations in Canada refused to play it for a while after Carrie’s husband Mike Fisher got traded from the Ottawa Senators to the Nashville Predators.
5. “Girl Crush” by Little Big Town. It’s still one of their biggest hits. But in 2014, the references to same-sex relationships ruffled a few feathers.
Here are a few more banned songs they came up with: “We Shall Be Free” by Garth Brooks . . . “Old Town Road” by Lil Nas X . . . “I Melt” by Rascal Flatts . . . “The Pill” by Loretta Lynn . . . “Independence Day” by Martina McBride . . .”Accidental Racist”by Brad Paisley . . . “Travelin’ Soldier” by The Chicks . . . “Red Ragtop” by Tim McGraw . . . and Willie Nelson’s cover of “Cowboys Are Frequently Secretly Fond of Each Other”.
Kelsea Ballerini could just admit she’s dating Chase Stokes. But she’d rather toy with us. She shared a video of herself in bed next to some guy, and all you see is a glimpse of his tatted-up left arm and shoulder. In the top left corner she’s responding to a fan’s comment that said, “@Hi-Chase-Stokes come get your girl.” A different fan wrote this in the post, “I did some digging. That’s 100% Chase’s arm tats.”
It isn’t just athletes. Carrie Underwood eats the exact same dinner EVERY NIGHT she performs . . . “no exceptions.” And no, it isn’t a Hot Pocket . . . with a second Hot Pocket on the side. Carrie says she eats: “Two eggs . . . half an avocado . . . a pile of veggies . . . and hummus.”
Kacey Musgraves organized a benefit concert for a Nashville music executive and his family who lost their home in a fire. The show is Monday and will include performances by Kacey, Brothers Osborne, Randy Houser, and more.
Chase Rice’s new album “I Hate Cowboys & All Dogs Go to Hell” is out tomorrow. If you buy it, you’ll get a bonus, hidden track called, “For a Day”. Not sure why it’s hidden, but he told Taste of Country Nights that it’s attached to another track . . . so when you see a 10 minute song, it’ll be part of that.
