When you’re new on the job . . . whatever that job is . . . there’s nothing better than having a big shot in your corner who believes in you. ASHLEY MCBRYDE says one of her early supporters was none other than Miranda Lambert. “We played LakeShake in Chicago [in 2017] and she and Karen Fairchild and stood side stage and video’d part of our set. That’s not nerve-wracking at all.” Miranda approached her after the show and invited her to hang out and watch a few other acts. After that they went to Miranda’s trailer for cocktails. Keep in mind, Ashley was still relatively unknown so it was huge. And it didn’t end that night. “She was the first big female voice to believe in me.”
Have you ever wondered how songwriters keep coming up with new stuff? It’s a concern THOMAS RHETT shared during a recent interview. He said, “Every time I finish a record in my brain I go, I have nothing else to say. How in the world are we gonna write for another record?” He overcomes that by tapping into whatever’s in his brain at that moment in time. “It’s funny how the moment you start writing [again] you realize there are a million things you haven’t said about your life or about past experiences.” He says his last album, “Life Changes”, happened while he and his wife were “in the thick of the process” of becoming parents . . . so the music reflected that. Now he’s working on the follow-up, and you can guess where that’s going. No word when the next album will be out.

CHARLIE DANIELS announced the track listing and released date of his new album. It’s called “Beau Weevils: Songs in the Key of E” . . . and it’ll be out October 26th. He says all the songs “lent themselves to being played in the key of E” . . . and that’s where title came from. It’s “swampy, and soulful, and pristine, because there’s not a lot of overdubbing and extra instruments.”
