One year ago today a gunman opened fire on a crowd of concertgoers at the Route 91 Harvest music festival on the Las Vegas Strip in Nevada. Stephen Paddock fired more than 1,100 rounds from his suite on the 32nd floor of the nearby Mandalay Bay hotel, killing 58 people and leaving 851 injured from gunfire and the resulting panic. About an hour later Paddock was found dead in his room from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. At 1:05 today I105 will also participate in a moment of silence.

LINDSAY LOHAN is in a bizarre place right now. Over the weekend, she livestreamed herself in Russia, being punched by a homeless woman, after she tried to take the woman’s children. Lindsay was in Moscow, when she just came across a homeless family – two adults and two young boys. She got out of her car and confronted the family LIVE on her Instagram. She claimed they were Syrian refugees, and at first she was being nice and offering to help them.  But then she tried to lure the kids back to her hotel to watch movies.  She talked to the family in both Arabic and English.  And when she spoke in English, she went in and out of that weird accent she’s been using. The family was NOT interested in Lindsay’s help.  After several minutes, they got up and started walking away. But Lindsay followed and continued to harass them – saying that they were, “ruining Arab culture by doing this.” She even accused them of CHILD TRAFFICKING – because the kids wanted to come with her, but the parents wouldn’t let them.  She kept following them, and at one point she tried to physically GRAB the kids. So the woman PUNCHED LINDSAY IN THE FACE. You don’t actually see the punch, you just see the camera shake.  Then you see Lindsay CRYING and saying, “You guys, I’m so scared.”  Then it ends.  Lindsay and her reps haven’t commented on the situation. She took down the video, but someone captured and posted parts of it.

RASCAL FLATTS is at a turning point in their career. They’re not retiring, but they are changing the way they record music.  Instead of going into the studio and grinding out full albums, they’re recording one song at a time. JOE DON ROONEY says, “We’re going single-by-song.  So a singles-based model might be the new [thing] for us for some time in the future.” JAY DEMARCUS adds, “We’re picking some songs that we love, cutting them and putting them out as we go, trying to still give our fans a lot of content.” They want to concentrate on making one “spectacular song” at a time, instead of spreading that energy out to 11 different tracks. One of those new “songs they love” is called “Back to Life”. GARY LEVOX says, “[The] lyric was great and the melody was incredible, and you know, it was just one of those things that after listening and after we cut it, it just even got more life to it, and we just thought it’d be a great, great single for this time of the year.”

MAREN MORRIS goes the extra mile to post photos of her fellow female artists because she wants them to be seen and to do well. She tells CMT, “I don’t really find it a chore to do that because I grew up listening to amazing women on the radio and I feel like I’ve always been a girls’ girl. There’s really something about the female spirit I’m attuned to and want to write for.  “So, when my friends are doing well and upping the bar, I want to shine a light and put it on them because it’s about paying it forward.  [We] all support each other.”
