From Fan to Collaborator to Tour Mate, Maren Morris Is Ready for “Really Fun Tour” With Niall Horan

Maren and Niall, a former member of pop troupe One Direction, have already played several tour dates abroad, including stops in New Zealand, Australia, Chile, Brazil and more. The tandem has been on the friendship fast-track since collaborating together on “Seeing Blind,” which was featured on Niall’s 2017 debut solo album, Flicker. The pair also performed “Seeing Blind” at the CMA Music Awards in November 2017.

As Maren told Kix Brooks of American Country Countdown, working with the pop star has been a “great fit.”

“I am a [fan of his],” says Maren to Kix. “I’ve grown up listening to everything, so One Direction, even though I think the fan-base is younger than me, I remember hearing ‘Steal My Girl’ and I was like, ‘This is such a great pop song.’ When [the members of One Direction] all started doing their own solo projects, I noticed Niall was always the one with the guitar. I loved his first single that he put out and found out that he was a songwriter and he wrote a lot of those songs for the band . . . Once he reached out to me to be on ‘Seeing Blind,’ I listened to it and it had this almost country feel to it. It was very stompy, roosty, so it just felt like a great fit . . . I think it’s going to be a really fun tour.”
