No Bull: Zac Brown Bids $330,000 for “Magic” Steer

Before Zac Brown closed this year’s Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in front of a sold-out crowd on March 26, he went steer shopping.

Zac—who was joined by his wife, Shelly, and four others—put together the winning bid of $330,000 for a mixed-breed steer named Magic in the Junior Market Steer Auction. Magic was named the reserve grand champion and was exhibited by Stock Martin, 16, of Hereford, Texas, who was guaranteed a payment of $40,000 to $45,000.

This year’s 20-day Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo set an 85-year attendance record of more than 2.6 million and featured performances from Aaron Watson, Old Dominion, Chris Stapleton, Alan Jackson, Sam Hunt, Thomas Rhett, Luke Bryan, Willie Nelson, Florida Georgia Line, Chris Young, Dierks Bentley, Brad Paisley, Zac Brown Band and more.
