Tequila, Tacos, Tunes and Tucker Beathard

Tequila, tacos, tunes and Tucker Beathard were on the lunch menu today at Nashville’s Saint Añejo restaurant.

Accompanied by only his guitar, the country music newcomer played five songs from his upcoming EP, Fight Like Hell, while an intimate gathering of industry insiders noshed on tacos and sipped margaritas.

Tucker’s six-song EP—of which he co-wrote every tune—is set to drop on Oct. 7 and features his current Top 10 single, “Rock On.” In addition to his single, Tucker performed “20–10 Tennessee,” “Momma and Jesus,” “I’ll Take on the World With You (Brother)” and the EP’s title track.

UnknownTucker, who is the son of Nashville songwriter Casey Beathard (Eric Church’s “Like a Wrecking Ball” and Kenny Chesney’s “No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problem”), took part in a Q&A from a handful of reporters and noted that he didn’t always see eye to eye with his songwriting father, but they’ve found common ground now that Tucker—in addition to growing up—is pursuing the life of a country artist.

“[There was] definitely some resistance,” says Tucker in regard to following in his father’s songwriting footsteps. “Naturally, ever since I was born, I gravitated toward music, but you know, I tried to stay away from anything that my dad was doing or anything like that. We fought a lot growing up. I was really stubborn. I got into a lot of trouble and we didn’t talk that much, but then when I started writing songs and we started writing songs, it just clicked and it kind of rekindled our relationship. And now we are really close, because we think a lot alike, and whether I like it or not, we work great together.”

Tucker is set to kick off his Rock On College Tour on Oct. 13 with support from Aubrie Sellers.

Henry Winkler refused to let his daughter do reality TV.  Once, when a producer came to their house, he told him, quote, “I can suggest some really good restaurants, [but] my daughter is not doing your show.” One of the funniest things to come from the show was George Strait’s reaction to the performances. Someone…
