Holding a Spaghetti Supper for our daughter Tanya Schlegel (Hilton) who has Leukemia and had a bone marrow transplant with complications after the transplant. She was in the hospital for 3 months and after she came home went back in the hospital 2 more times. We are doing this fundraiser to help raise money towards her medical bills. Each year families throughout Lancaster County make the annual trek to buy the latest, trendiest clothing for the new school year. Many others, however, barely scratch together enough money to buy school supplies much less new outfits. That’s where Lititz United Methodist Church steps in to fill the gap. Our goal this year is to offer 950 backpacks stuffed with pens, pencils, crayons, rulers, scissors, glue, notebooks, everything they would need to begin a new school year. Due to the anticipated need, there will be a limit of 3 school kits per family.Also during the church’s eighth annual event on Saturday, Aug. 21, 7-10 a.m., the church’s social hall will be filled with infant through adult sized clothing--at no charge--to offer a way for families to extend their budgets and ease the financial strain of outfitting their children for school.
